Assignment VIII
What is Fallacy? A mistaken belief, especially one based on unsound argument.
Argument from Ignorance: Assuming that a claim is true because it has not be or cannot be proven false, or vise versa. An example would be "since there is no proof that god doesn't exist; I believe he does exist."
False Authority: Using a non-expert's opinion on a subject to sell a product or idea. An example would be "In 2016 the world is going to end; because I say that it must be true."

Nature vs. Nurture
Nature vs. Nurture is one of the most controversial topics in psychology. Some people may say that Nature is what makes people who they are and some may say that its Nurture. But other people also think that it is both; that both Nature and Nurture make us who we are.
Definition on Nature vs. Nurture: "Nature versus nurture" is a psychology term related to whether heredity or the environment most impacts human psychological development (behavior, habits, intelligence, personality, sexuality, aggressive tendencies, and so on).
I was given a case in class titled the "Catt family" the criminal activity that they are associated with is bank robberies. The members of the robberies were Ronald Scott Catt, Hayden Catt, Abigail Catt and they did this for 2 years. Ronald Scott Catt had lost his wife due to cancer in the year 1995, soon after that he came an addict to drugs and alcohol. The Catt family faced many financial problems. Because the family was struggling from financial situations they decided to rob banks to boost up their income. Ronald and his son Hayden both robbed the banks while daughter Abigail drove the get away car.
To my observational theory due to reading the case i would say that Nurture is to blame at some fault for the actions of the children. The father made it seem that robbing was something that was ok just because they needed the money and they wouldn't have killed anyone. Instead of the father telling them that stealing is wrong he made it ok. Scott Catt says "I didn't feel like a criminal...." in his head everything that they did was fine because whatever money he stole got insure and they weren't planning on killing anyone. Ronald Scott Catt in a way convinced his kids that if you don't kill people then what your doing is not a crime.

Consciousness
I have had the same dream repeat in an amount of two years when i was 15-16 years old i would say. In this dream im in a wonderland type of world everything is beautiful and im fascinated by what i see im smiling and i see animals passing by me. All the animals start to disappear and i turn around and see a giant squirrel but its pink, in my dream i felt like i was happy to see it and wasn't afraid because its pink and looks friendly; its eyes start to turn red and i start looking around and the world where im standing is disappearing so i start running and the pink squirrel starts to chase me. im panicking im so scared and everything starts turning black until my whole wonderland is completely black. i just keep running; running to nothing. When i felt that the squirrel was catching up to me i ran faster until it made a huge jump and thats when i woke up.
As i started to examine the dream i feel like it could have related to my life. Maybe i was afraid of change and im just trying to run away from it. Im afraid of the unknown. I felt like my perfect little world was coming to an end and i just wanted to run away from it and not fight it. This dream is telling me to not run away from my problems because i will go nowhere.

Sensation and Perception
Sensation: is basically the five senses; smell, touch, taste, see, and hearing. For example an ice cream you can see it and it might to delicious it might not, you can feel it which would be wet because it's liquid, you can also smell it depending on the flavor, and you can taste it but not really hear it unless it falls on the floor; you can hear that! Sensation is an ability that people have, not everyone has all the five senses but its possible to find a way to interpret something without having the specific sense.
Perception: its much different then sensation because in sensation if you see something that is blue and everyone can agree with you that that is the color that appears. Perception is different in the way that, lets say you see a lady bug and its a normal one it flies and its red with black dots; but you say that the lady bugs shape was round the person next to you disagrees because they saw it oval. Another example would be your laying down ready to go to sleep in your dark room you face the opposite direction and see a floating person and your scared as hell; when you turn the lights on it was just a towel that you had hanging on a coat rack.

Free Will is being able to make
your own decisions without having to think of anyone or anything influencing
that choice. An example of expressing free will would be, I walk into a
department store and am looking for a new purse. I see four different types one
is blue, one is pink, one is , and the last one is black. I decide to take
the black purse out of all the other. This is free will because although my
choice was limited because the amount of purses in the store, I chose to buy
the black one. The point of having free will is being able to choose.
Determinism is
not being able to exercise your free will to its full potential. Determinism I
feel is impacted in a way with the law, following rules to "not commit a
crime." Society has a way that people should be and know what is
"right" and what is "wrong." An example would be, walking
in the city and the sidewalk is very crowded, and you’re getting annoyed
because it’s taking a really long time to make it to the end of the street, so
you start to violently hit everyone that is in your way. The police see's you
hurting civilians and now you’re arrested. This is like cause and effect
because of your violent actions the effect is that know you get punished for
what was done.
